Got down to Christchurch to have a yarn with the good folks at Green Fuels NZ, and picked up my first batch of 100% BioDiesel to mix with my standard vehicle. Awesome!! I’ve figured out that I can drop my fossil fuel consumption by 13% over the year without any modifications whatsoever to my vehicle. Keep an eye on this space as I plan to go to a 100% fossil fuel reduction in 3 years. Happy to supply adventurers with a more ethical mode of transport with Scottish Express
The business story
Learning a lot… Simpler is better
Just redesigned the website to make life simpler. Should be lots easier to navigate about. I’ve thrown a super cheap special up in September if anyone wants to get down Nelson Lakes for a day of riding or a day walk. Pie and Coffee at Wakefield included!! Also heading down to Christchurch next month to pick up some biodiesel to mix in with my stock standard diesel. Give me a Holler if you are in Nelson and you want a couple of Jerry cans bringing back.
And give me a wee bit of feedback for the website… much appreciated

Going Green(er)
Yep, I know I’ve been a bit quiet in the background. But actually there been a whole lot of great things going on in the background.
I’ve comitted to twelve point sustainability plan, to ensure my business has good solid foundations for a sustainable tourism model to be built.
The other thing i’ve been rattling about with, is a way to make that awesome vehicle of mine more sustainable. I’ve been having a yarn with Green Fuels in Christchurch. Looking between the lines I reckon I can average swapping 13% of my annual diesel consumption to biodiesel with out any negative effect on my engine life. So I’ll be rattling down to Christchurch next month to pick up some 100% biodiesel for a test run watering down my standard diesel.
I also got to go on an amazing holiday and have a yarn with Off the Beaten Track Accommodation about some great options for some awesome packages down to the West Coast Wonderland, and I started a new job at The Cable Bay Adventure Park, and I am supremely happy to be working with some great people towards growing a great sustainable adventure park.
Back to the pans!! And cracking some ideas for Adventure food
Just changed a few wee things in the background, and I feel very fortunate to be working at the Cable Bay Adventure Park Kai HQ. Adventurous food for adventurous people!!~
As you may or may not know, by initial profession was a chef for about 18 years, which in itself an adventure. I kinda put that on cooking on hold for a while, and delved into growing and harvesting food… hence the famous Wairoa Gorge Volunteer event Goat Curries. Still kept a Dab hand in though cooking for Old mate the Billionaire on occasion and fuelings the shred at Dodzy Memorial Enduros.
Wee bit rusty after a my kitchen hiatus, so thought I’d better hone my skills a bit. So a bit of a rustic garden to plate action tonight ; Spiced bean and Quinoa burgers with freerange salad.
And yes I am always thinking of doing adventure food in tandem with some cool adventures, whether that be at The Gorge or pulling something esquisite out of your backpack half way up a valley on the West coast. But I am lacking the many hands of Vishnu!! It’ll come…. For now more than happy to help people plan some awesome adventure friendly food – see details of our other services here.
The Adventure continues
Just back from an amazing fact discovering journey down to the West Coast to find some unique locations to take adventurous people, and also to collaborate with some other great people to create some great adventure packages for the upcoming summer.
I think people are getting the idea that this businesss is just as much a social enterprise to encourage great business ethic in the region, and also to encourage those who give freely to the greater community by giving logistical support where we can.
Talking about great businesses, I’ve just started my new job at the Cable Bay Adventure Park, and I’m looking forward to contributing and learning from a great local ethical business.
Whew!! Time flys
Been super busy during the last month. Loads going on…. trip to Middle Hill, volunteer Weekends up the Gorge in storm conditions and also my final fling up the Gorge last WE as Volunteer Coordinator. I also managed to get well priced Gorge packages with transport direct to Gibbs Hut at 1000 metres!!
Had an amazing crew down from Welly, and had a great Weekend on the east coast of the South Island, shuttles @Middle Hill, local rides, cool accommodation, dinner out in Kaikoura.
Thats the test package deal out to Middle Hill done, and we’ll refine that and make it super easy to get people to this amazing destination.
