Who is the Scottish Express?
David (Dave) Scotland is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast based in Nelson, New Zealand. His deep-rooted passion for adventure and the natural environment has shaped both his personal lifestyle and his business philosophy. Dave has spent much of his life exploring the outdoors by foot, bike, and kayak, both in New Zealand and across Europe, often accompanied by his partner, Rosie.
Before founding Scottish Express, Dave built a diverse career that combined hospitality and outdoor recreation. He spent 20 years working as a chef, honing his skills in service and hospitality—attributes that now underpin his approach to customer care in his transport business. Dave also devoted a decade to building and maintaining the Wairoa Gorge Mountain Bike Park, where he was instrumental in developing a successful volunteer model to keep the park in top condition. His commitment to community is evident in his ongoing collaboration with local organizations and his willingness to volunteer his time and expertise to support and enhance outdoor spaces for everyone.
