Its a great time of year to get out into nature… yep its a bit colder and the days are a bit shorter, but we’re getting some amazing calm days and equally amazing sunsets over the western mountains. We’ve got a great monthly special trip planned for next Weekend, The “Coastal Express” is an amazing hop on hop off Kayak Shuttle Service…. drive your kayak and vehicle to any of the stops and we’ll drop you off at the next stop for a sublime paddle back to your vehicle, lots off options for short day trips, epic, paddles and maybe even an overnight trip. Time to get out on the water..!!
The business story
The Cobb Valley, Delicious for the eyes!!
Wow, what a weekend just been. We took the “Adventure Crafting” group up the Cobb Valley to stay at the Cobb Hostel , they enjoyed some amazing weather and mountain vistas. Almost 50% of the group had never visited the Cobb Valley!!
What makes the Cobb so amazing… is you can drive straight to an amazing alpine enviroment in just 2.5hrs from Nelson and you can also drive straight to Trilobite Hut . Throughly recommend a visit..
Volunteering with the Nelson MTB Community
Super happy to get some volunteering activities under way at Scotttish Express this month, we started off on friday by giving the hard working volunteers who had been tickling up “Loam Ranger” a shuttle up to the top of keyboard warrior.
It’s been awesome to utilise the unique Scottish Express sponsorship fund to give back to those who readily give back to the trails maintained by the Nelson Mountain Bike club.
We were back into it on Saturday heading out for an awesome day of volunteering, bbq’s and riding and shuttles at Ride Project in the Rai Valley. Kurt and Liv have got an awesome thing going with their volunteerdays in the Rai valley… good times with great people. Scottish Express finished off the day with a shuttle up Mount Takorika behind Havelock for an awesome 700m descent into the township. Looking forward to the next dig day….

Just a wee yarn about the Wairoa Gorge
Summer is on the way. And I just want to give everyone a gentle reminder about awesome things to do and why you should do them. The Gorge Bike park is located on a public recreational reserve and without the support of the Nelson mountainbike club and the greater NZ mountain bike community it simply would not exist. I just spent 2 great Weekends up the Wairoa Gorge. The first was dropping off an amazing crew from the North Island up the for a grand day of shuttling, the second was a smoking hot mountain bike festival aptly named Weekend at Kens( after the former billionaire owner), which poured some much needed cash back into the Gorge. Good on ya Nick Crocker for organising.
Get behind it this summer, its a great place to be and support , and it needs your tyres!!!
