Couple of new trips on the Horizon

April 5, 2022 by Scottishadmin Leave a Comment

Been brewing up some new trips at Scottish Express. Got a great idea for Kayaking the quiter eastern Tasman Bay Coastline which is called the “Coastal Express“. Rocky and Raw, with a few interspersed sandy refuges. I’ve got an idea to run a kayak pick up and drop off trip from Tahuna beach all the way up to French Pass. This will allow people to Kayak back to their cars and choose a bit of the coastline to explore each time I run this trip. Some great options for exploring and easy overnights here.

Malborough Sounds

The other thing I’ve done is revitalised the “ Kahurangi Express” trip. Everybody knows that Weekends are far to short to get into the outdoors and half the time you spend more time packing and unpacking and driving rather than being out there.

Well I’m boosting a wee idea to get people motivated. Fri night drop offs at Flora Saddle and Sun arvo pick ups at the Cobb reservoir… that’ll give you loads of time to explore the wilderness on your backdoor

The Cobb Valley, Delicious for the eyes!!

March 28, 2022 by Scottishadmin Leave a Comment

Wow, what a weekend just been. We took the “Adventure Crafting” group up the Cobb Valley to stay at the Cobb Hostel , they enjoyed some amazing weather and mountain vistas. Almost 50% of the group had never visited the Cobb Valley!!

What makes the Cobb so amazing… is you can drive straight to an amazing alpine enviroment in just 2.5hrs from Nelson and you can also drive straight to Trilobite Hut . Throughly recommend a visit..

Volunteering with the Nelson MTB Community

March 20, 2022 by Scottishadmin Leave a Comment

Super happy to get some volunteering activities under way at Scotttish Express this month, we started off on friday by giving the hard working volunteers who had been tickling up “Loam Ranger” a shuttle up to the top of keyboard warrior.

It’s been awesome to utilise the unique Scottish Express sponsorship fund to give back to those who readily give back to the trails maintained by the Nelson Mountain Bike club.

We were back into it on Saturday heading out for an awesome day of volunteering, bbq’s and riding and shuttles at Ride Project in the Rai Valley. Kurt and Liv have got an awesome thing going with their volunteerdays in the Rai valley… good times with great people. Scottish Express finished off the day with a shuttle up Mount Takorika behind Havelock for an awesome 700m descent into the township. Looking forward to the next dig day….

Nydia Epic describes the day.. not just the ride!!

January 24, 2022 by Scottishadmin Leave a Comment

Gudday Folks still got a few seats left on the Nydia track Epic. And as a wee yarn for those who associate “Epic” with the full heavy duty cycle on a washing machine. Please read on…

We’ve got a couple a people signed up for the “Epic” who have cunningly crafted another route option into the day which allow them to swim and eat icecream at Okiwi bay.

Ride the Goat hill track, down to Okiwi bay, skip the Archers track to lounge at Okiwi Bay, then get dropped off at the Opouri saddle a good 1 hour headstart before the other riders come through. All in all a brilliant day out that allows you to taste both the Icecream and the Nydia track in a relaxed style…. flexible adventuring at its prime with Scottish Express.

star rating  WEST COAST WILDERNESS TRAIL

8 of us have just returned from this fabulous and very affordable biking trip. With everything so well-organised by Dave, all we cyclists had... read more to do was to take care of our personal stuff and be at the day's start-place on time. He took care of everything else with many thoughtfulnesses thrown in, even welcoming us riders in with a bbq beside Lake Kaniere on our long 60km day. He also bike-hired for some of us, and the accommodations served us well. A couple of drop-offs to supermarkets kept us in fresh snacks. He certainly went the extra mile and I highly recommend this trip with Scottish Express.
