Opouri Saddle to Kaiuma Bay Afternoon Return Shuttle
Experience the absolute best of the Marlborough Sounds without the logistical headache. This point-to-point transport service lets both trampers and mountain bikers conquer the combined Opouri Bridle Track and the iconic Nydia Track in the most seamless, rewarding direction possible, with a convenient afternoon pickup to bring you right back to your vehicle.
By parking your vehicle at the high-altitude launch point at Opouri Saddle, you will dive straight into an epic, point-to-point journey down to the coast. You’ll traverse podocarp and beech forests, cross spectacular coastal saddles with panoramic views of the Pelorus Sound, and skim tranquil shorelines. At the end of your adventure, our afternoon shuttle will be waiting at Kaiuma Bay to transport you and your gear back to your car.
- For Hikers / Trampers: Starting at the saddle gives you the ultimate head start. You’ll tackle the scenic, 4.5 km Opouri Bridle Track downhill into Duncan Bay, before setting off on the remote 27 km Nydia Track. Perfect for a multi day journey, you can spend a night at a coastal campsite or lodge, moving at your own pace through the wilderness knowing your afternoon ride back to the top is locked in for whichever day you finish.
- For Mountain Bikers: This is a legendary Grade 4/5 technical backcountry epic completed in one big day. Starting at the saddle allows you to warm up with the fast, root-heavy downhill singletrack of the Bridle Track before linking directly into the Nydia Track’s challenging climbs, rocky technical descents, and pure singletrack bliss. Empty your tank on the trail, knowing you won’t have to face a massive climb back to your car at the end of the day.
How it works: Park at Opouri Saddle → Hike or ride one-way seamlessly down to the coast → Hop in our afternoon shuttle at Kaiuma Bay → Enjoy a comfortable lift back to your vehicle. No backtracking, no stress.
