Great day out despite the feroicious weather on Saturday. Dropped off a few hardy souls at Pelorus for circuits around the incredible forest around the Cafe, and dropped two even hardier souls at the Maungatapu Saddle for a hike via dew lakes to the Matai valley. Did a bit of repair work diverting water on the road heading down… all in all a great day out.

Great destinations- The Kahurangi Express
Weather was on the money on the Weekend been, had a few takers for the “Kahurangi Express trip” Getting into the hills on a friday night worked really well to make the standard Weekend seem a whole lot longer. Paced out a trip that I’ve always wanted to do…… Diamond lake Sylvester circuit. Lake Sylvester is named after an interesting character, Sylvester himself was probably the OG Mountain biker, he used to hike a bike his bicyle over mountain passes at the turn of the century!! Good times in the beautiful outdoor wilderness that is Kaurangi National park… we’re pretty lucky to have this on our door step.
The Kahurangi Express 5th November $72
Days runs pretty short on these incredibly short periods of time either side of Monday and friday!! So we’re sneaking in a trip which will serve to extend your time in the great outdoor play ground. We call it the Kahurangi Express…. Depart Nelson 5pm, arrive Flora saddle 7pm, frolick around the mountain meadows of the tablelands or wherever takes your fancy. Pick ups Sunday on the Cobb valley road, or Barrons Flat MTB track end if you want to take your bike. CLICK HERE for more details/Booking
24th October ….Ra-Ra-Rameka + Kaiteriteri laps $47
I’ve decided to have quite a casual Labour Weekend, so Sunday the 24th we’re heading up to the Rameka. We’ve got a super good format for this… Rameka track… meet at Takaka for lunch then back over the hill to while away the afternoon with drop off at Sandy Bay Riwaka Saddle which give access to Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park. How good is that..? Check out the special deals on the website for more info
Nelson Lakes Wanderer, 25th September
Pretty Keen to get to the Nelson Lakes at the end of the month. Had a plan to go last month but the Covid put a damper on that. So whats the amazing deal that I am cooking up? $45 gets you a Wakefield pie and Coffee, transport to either ride the Teetotal Mountain Bike trails, or get dropped off at the top of the Porika track for a walk down through the incredible historic goldfields track of Louis Creek. We’ve got a pretty casual start at 9am from Nelson central, pick ups on route can be arranged. Limited spaces … grab yourself a seat.
